Inheriting the Original, Becoming the Origin!
Blues is not merely music or dance. It is a movement that arises from deep within the heart, a warm breath that connects us to others, and a time to face ourselves anew.
Bongcheon Salon Blues Fest 2025 aims to inherit the ‘originality’ of blues dance and further become a new ‘origin.’ This is not simply a place to learn styles or techniques, but a journey to experience through the body the historical context of blues’ birth and the source of its emotions.
This year, we will focus on Blues Idiom Dance, which has recently become a global sensation. Blues Idiom is an innovative approach that deeply explores the essential language and emotional expression of blues dance—a new paradigm of dance that starts from traditional blues roots and adds contemporary interpretation.

Kenneth Shipp [Dance Instructor]
Kenneth Shipp은 미국 미주리 주 세인트루이스 출신으로, 힙합과 브레이크댄스를 먼저 접한 후 블루스 댄스로 전향한 댄서 겸 강사입니다. 그는 블루스 춤의 다양한 스타일(블루스 이디엄)을 열정적으로 연구하며, 자신의 풍부한 인생 경험을 춤에 녹여내고 있습니다. 학생들이 블루스 댄스의 역사적, 문화적 배경을 깊이 이해하고 이를 춤으로 표현할 수 있도록 지도하는 것을 목표로 합니다. 유럽에서 진행되는 워크샵에서도 그가 다양한 블루스 음악과 무브먼트를 배우고 즐길 수 있도록 북돋우며, 춤을 즐기는 동시에 편안하고 여유로운 마음가짐으로 사회적 댄스를 즐길 수 있게 권장합니다. 또한, 그의 강의는 단순한 동작 연습을 넘어 블루스 공동체와 역사에 대한 존중을 함께 강조합니다.
Kenneth Shipp is a dancer and instructor from St. Louis, Missouri, who first encountered hip-hop and breakdancing before transitioning to blues dancing. He passionately studies various styles of blues dance (blues idioms) and incorporates his rich life experiences into his dancing. His teaching aims to help students deeply understand the historical and cultural background of blues dance and express it through their movement. In workshops across Europe, Kenneth encourages dancers to learn and enjoy diverse blues music and movements, promoting a relaxed and enjoyable attitude toward social dancing. His teaching goes beyond mere technique, emphasizing respect for the blues community and its history. He is known for fostering an environment where dancers can connect with the music and each other while exploring the cultural roots of the dance. His approach blends technical skill with cultural appreciation to create a meaningful dance experience.
Dawa Jung [Dance Instructor]
폴리네시아 댄스의 매혹적인 리듬에서부터 살사와 린디합의 역동적인 활력에 이르기까지, 다와는 2012년 블루스 댄스의 세계에 입문하여 영돈과 함께 블루스를 지도하기 시작하였습니다. 다와의 여정은 무대에 국한되지 않으며, 미국과 유럽의 다수의 블루스 행사에 참여하여 결선 진출 및 우승의 성과를 거두었습니다. 그녀의 헌신은 개인적 성취를 초월하여, “The Blues” 그룹의 강사이자 여성 솔로 팀 “The Mooche”의 리더로서 다른 이들에게 영감을 주고 있으며, 아시아와 유럽 전반에 걸쳐 자신의 열정과 블루스 댄스의 다양한 스타일을 전파하고 있습니다.
From the captivating rhythms of Polynesian dances to the energetic vibrancy of salsa and Lindy Hop, Dawa embarked on the world of blues dance in 2012 and started teaching blues with Youngdon. Dawa’s journey doesn’t end on stage, as she has graced numerous blues events in the US and Europe, becoming a finalist and winner. Her dedication transcends individual achievement; she inspires others as a teacher in “The Blues” group and leader of “The Mooche”—a female solo team—sharing her passion and the diverse styles of blues dance across Asia and Europe.
Youngdon Kwon[Dance Instructor]
블루스 댄서이자 이벤트 오거나이저인 리얼은 2007년 블루스 댄싱에서 자신의 열정을 찾았습니다. 2005년 린디합으로 시작한 지 2년 후, 미국에서 춤을 추며 블루스에서 진정한 사랑을 발견하게 되었고 현재 그는 이벤트 주최(Blue Sweet, Korea Blues Camp BSBF등), 블루스 컴페티션 우승과 심사를 하고 있으며, 그리고 아시아와 유럽을 오가며 티칭을 통해 블루스의 열정을 퍼뜨리고 있습니다. 영감과 나눔의 미션으로 가득한 리얼은 매년 미국과 유럽을 방문하여 받은 영감을 아시아에서 전파하고 있습니다. 리얼은 미국과 유럽의 많은 블루스 이벤트에서 파이널리스트이자 위너로 활약했습니다. 아시아에서 유럽까지, 그는 자신의 워크숍을 통해 블루스 댄스의 기쁨을 나누고 있습니다.
Blues dancer & organizer Youngdon found his passion in blues dancing in 2007. Starting with Lindy Hop in 2005, two years later, he discovered his true love in Blues when dancing in the States. He now spreads the blues spark through organizing events (Blue Sweet and Korea Blues Camp), winning blues competitions, and traveling and teaching across Asia and Europe. Fueled by inspiration and a mission to share, Youngdon travels to the US and Europe each year and spreads his passion in Asia. Youngdon was a finalist and winner of many blues events in the U.S. & Europe. From Asia to Europe, he spreads the joy of blues dance through his workshops.
Jay Lee(이재민)님은 대한민국에서 활동하는 음악가이며, 블루스 및 다양한 장르에 능한 작곡가/프로듀서로 알려져 있습니다. 그는 걸스데이등 여러 유명 아티스트 그리고 K-POP 스타들과 작업을 하였으며 이외에도 Vic Truck 그리고 Blindin Yellow Stones 블루스 밴드로도 왕성히 활동하며 블루스의 저변확대를 위해 노력하고 있습니다.
락한(한석호)님은 대한민국의 블루스 밴드 락한밴드의 리더이자 키보디스트입니다. 그는 한국의 유명한 드라마 음악감독 및 K-POP 스타들 레슨 경력도 있으며 현재는 주로 락한 블루스 밴드 그리고 올간스쿼트 밴드로 블루스와 사이키델릭한 사운드를 중심으로 다양한 공연과 앨범 활동을 및 CC 블루스 페스티벌, IBC(인터네셔널 블루스 챌린지) 등 국내외 무대에서 멋지게 활약하고 있습니다.
Jay Lee (also known as Lee Jae-min) is a musician active in South Korea, known as a versatile composer and producer skilled in blues and various other genres. He has worked with famous artists such as Girl’s Day and other K-POP stars. In addition to that, he actively performs with blues bands Vic Truck and Blindin Yellow Stones, contributing to the expansion of blues music in Korea.
Lakhan (Han Seok-ho) is the leader and keyboardist of the South Korean blues band Lakhan Band. He has experience as a well-known drama music director in Korea and has provided lessons to K-POP stars. Currently, he mainly performs and produces albums with Lakhan Blues Band and Organ Squad Band, focusing on blues and psychedelia sound. He has been active on various domestic and international stages, including the CC Blues Festival and the International Blues Challenge (IBC).
